had a dissapointing sat night. played the 4k euros rebuy and came about 15th for a few inconsequential quid.

I was alos playing the 7500 rebuy (AA no good 1st hand after rb period) and the 15k euros gteed.

In the 15k I chipped up nicely when I see a monster flop and I have oesd, 2overcards and a backdoor flush draw…ty poker gods..I got onto final table about 5th in chips (1st paid >5k euros) but I ended up playin AKo too early V CL’s QQ and missing too early and the bigstack snapped me up. busto in 9th for about 320 euro. I usually play very tight sng style until down to 3/4 players on a MTT FT so I am dissapointed with my exit. 200k pot would have given me a great shot at the win..

If I had raised 3x and been RR’d by the CL, I think given the stacksizes it’s all going in regardless. ah well tomorrow is another day… zat’s zee poker. At least last nights crappy Sattelites were paid for, so I’ll have another go at GUKPT mancs qualifier in 2morrow’s 250$ Freezeout SuperSatellite.

edit: Bloody hell, I final tabled the 1am 3keuros guaranteed and took another stupid race before I thought about it (multi-tasking).. I should have chilled and climbed the payout ladder.. that’s x2 today I screwed myself with unnecessary coinflips…. durrrr. multi-tasking on FT = -ev…

satellites own my soul

Posted under Uncategorized

fk satellites. Played the GUKP Manchester $109 rebuy sat last night.. Double rebought, which is obv +EV, however 90% of the morons on the table chose not to do so.. So we had like 46 folks vyeing for a max of like 3 packages.

Anyway I got rivered for 5k after about 20 mins JJ no good when moron rivers a straight (his 6’s were obv the best hand all the way….) - “it’s a rebuy” he says.. *shakes head*. AKs lost to KK, which is fine, so I reload for another 200$ (now in the hole for $409), I run carddead, break hits - I take an addon ($100). Freeeout time - everytime i raise i get reraised and fold. Starting to get annoyed. down to 13bb, I raise in ep, guy rr’s me from late pos, and i have to call with aqo.. he has AA gg.

$509 (actually i am sure it was just over 600$ but god knows where the other $100 went).

satellites suck.
I suck
poker sucks.

Irish Poker Open 2008 (my Trip report)

Posted under Live Poker Tournaments & live poker & irish poker open

I arrived at the Citywest Hotel, Dublin on day 1(a) (due to play day 1(b)). I checked into my room on 2nd floor and headed down to the bar for some drink and some poker on the laptop. I noticed Roland De Wolfe and Neil Channing in the bar getting food, and soon the place was full of poker players playing day 1a. I sat at the bar and 5 tabled for a bit while eating lunch, and I ran good and made about 2k Euros, which is never bad.

1 € 801,400
2 € 420,000
3 € 275,000

6 € 135,000
7 € 100,000

13-18 €24,000
19-27 €18,000
28- 36 €13,000
37-45 € 9,000
46-54 € 6,500
55-63 € 5,500
64-72 € 4,500

Day 1 kicked off at 2pm (315 Players), and I wandered around snapping the players without challenge really.. Irish hopes included Andy Black, a bunch of players from Boards.ie and some satellite players.

Other big name players on day 1(a) included Sorel Mizzi, Doyle Brunson (who could be seen zooming around on one of those old-people carrier thingys, or assisted by a crutch), Trond Eidsvig (this guy runs like god, and has Final tabled the last 4 EPT’s iirc.), Roland de Wolfe (who spend the first 90 Mins of play getting a Massage), Todd Brunson, Joe “BigEgypt” Elpayaa, John Duthie (EPT founder), Mike “Timex” mcDonald on same table as Dave “devilfish” Ulliot, to name but a few. I also recognised Jen Mason, Ram Vaswani, and spoke to micky wernick and HendonMobster Barney Boatman (both of whom were very nice and let me take their pics..)

The first elimination of the day was given a big chocolate easter-egg in a basket thingy.. (expensive egg, at 4500 Euros!)..
Irishman Andy Black grinded up to about 45k pretty quickly, however he busted out pretty soon when his opponent rivered a backdoor straight. D’oh!

Irish Poker Open Chipcounts at end of day 1(a)

So I headed to the bar and chatted to some young americans (the only guy I recognised was Timex tbh). It turned out I was sitting with Jim (mr_bigQueso) and Isaac Baron (mrMenlo), Anthony and some other ballas whose names excape me now As a Cardrunners Member (menlo makes Vids for CR) I felt it my duty to tell menlo that his vids had improved my game.. and to get very drunk with the boys. It did amaze me how young the american players were (these guys have made MILLIONS online, and looked 18-23!). It was also refreshing that there was not a bit of ego about these guys.. they were humble, happy to dish out the tips to someone without vast live experience in big BI tourneys, and of course they were more than happy to get high with me! haha :)

So we got drunk and smoked some doobs outside (I managed to find some skins eventually as the hotel didn’t sell any! WTF).. then Queso did a 5k Coinflip (literally) with Roland De Wolfe in the bar (Roland said he won, but Queso said he won.. Hmmm..) as well as some drinking games. Met Chris from cakepoker and talked shite to him and drank a few then I hit the sack about 6am as I was due to play the next day at 2pm..

Day 1(b)
I awoke about 12 and as soon as I opened my hotelroom door, I could smell some TASTY WEED. I proceeded to lunch and joined some of the guys from the night before. It turned out the weed had been purchased by my new american friends, and security and the hotel manager had been knocking on their door, suitably unimpressed. haha.. I saw Soren Jensen, bigegypt and mark teltscher floating around, and after I had drunk about 10 glasses of water and had my lunch I went to play my game.

So it turns out Paddy Power didn’t sell as many seats as last year, so they were trying to sell a few seats by running some 1 hand satellites (350 Euros buyin, 2 tables, 1 hand - winner takes all, 2nd place gets his money back).. So half an hour later they announced that there was an overlay, and poor old Paddy Power were paying the remainder to make up the guarantee!

I was on table 26, seat 2 (iirc), and didn’t recognise anyone on my table except Norweigan Thomas Nielsen. Guy 2 on my left was a young american player called Malachy Hagan, and the rest were unknowns. We started with 10k chips (all tables were 9-handed), 25/50 blinds and a nice slow clock. I chipped up to about 14k by the end of the 2nd level, exploiting some irish guy with tattoos who was mega weak and donkish. He was 4xing hands like jko UTG and making silly c-bets. I asked him how much he had after he cbet a 9high rainbow then I shoved and he folded, and I showed air. This put him on tilt and he shoved A6o into Nielsens AA and it was goodbye from him..

After about 3 levels, I get dealt AA. Irish guy in seat 8 makes it 5x to Go. I RR him to about 11x, telling him if he reraises I’ll probably shove. He goes all in, I snapcall. He also has AA obv. No 4flush ensues and we chop chop. boooo.

Later (2 hands before dinner) the chinese guy in seat 1 (who is kind of short on chips) raises it to 5x. An Irish guy in MP shoves, and it folds around to the original raiser. he flips over KK (not realising someone has called) and his hand is dead. The other guy had AK and won the hand. hoho… luck of the Irish !

After dinner one of my key hands happened. Nielsen has a fat stack with blinds 200/400, and I am on about 13k. He raises it to 2k UTG, and the guy on my right flatcalls. I squeeze by going all in with 55, then I assume the pillar of stone position (shades on, hands over mouth.. trying not to flinch or move). Nielsen stands up and probes for info. “you have tens? jacks?” I can feel my hands begin to shake and I close my eyes tight, staying silent. Eventually he makes the call (he has about 18k) with AKo (I was sure he had a med pocket pair). The flop gives a beautiful 5xx, and he bricked the Aces and Kings anyway, leaving him crippled with about 4k. He soon shoves 99 and gets pwned by AQo. GG sir.

The table is broken up and I end up getting moved to Table 10 (I only recognised Tim Blake and 1 other player). There’s about 10 mins to go of day 1 and my dad gives me a call (”i’m doing fine, 22kish.. a decent stack for 2mor”). Next thing I get dealt QQ in Middle Position. Blinds are 300/600 with a 25 ante. Guy UTG raises to 2k. It folded to me. I shoved for ~22k. It folds to mateyboy UTG. After 2 mins I call clock. with 20 seconds left he says “oh is it my turn?” and flips over aces. “That is the sickest slowroll I have ever seen” I say. Mateyboy protests his innocence, saying he genuinely thought it was the guy on his right to go. hmm..The board offers no queens and it’s goodnight from me. Being such a sporting chap, I shook his hand and said best of luck. [C*NT!] I can’t believe I busted 5 mins before day 2! ARGH£$%£$%&$&*&*(.

Irish Poker open Chipcounts Day 2
Top 10:
99400 Eric Larcheveque
92250 Lars Hougaard
84875 Knut Rysstad
82250 Jay Renehan
78700 Alexander Fitzgerald
76425 Conor Tate
72375 Carsten Joh
69700 James Daly
69325 Mazhar Nawab
65000 Nick Goodall

Day 2 saw the feature table getting opened up, and of course Doyle Brunson was there in his iconic stetson. Sorel Mizzi was on 120k+, and looking good to final table this event 2 years on the trot. Irishman Donal Norton was another serious contender to hit the final table with a huge stack. PokerVerdict’s Neil Channing was also looking good for a FT spot with plenty of chips around him.

Final chipcounts end of day 3

Chip Counts and Seating Plan:

Seat 1: Neil Channing — 2,748,000
Seat 2: Tim Blake — 912,000
Seat 3: Kai Danilo Paulsen — 716,000
Seat 4: Thomas Dunwoodie — 544,000
Seat 5: Edwin Tournier — 562,000
Seat 6: Donal Norton — 1,164,000

Channing ran good on the final table and won himself 800K Euros. He also had £500 on himself at 100-1, so quite a nice payday for Mr C. Irishman Donal Norton came 2nd for 400k Euros. Congrats to both.

See y’all at next years Irish Poker Open

poker in ireland

Posted under Uncategorized

I am in ireland visiting family for a few days (St Patricks day yesterday, so I got verrry drunk), then I am off to play the Irish poker Open on day 1(b) Friday… a £6 eachway bet on me gets you £1200… Get your cash on ! :D

I will go have a nosey at day 1a and post some snaps of all the poker elite on my blog and my Poker & Gambling Forum. I am looking forward to playing with Doyle, Annette and all the rest of the poker legends and getting pishedo in Dublin. If I don’t last till the end of day 2 I have a hot date, so everything is good.

Today I played some poker and made about 1100 euro (approx £800) which is nice.. If I run it up decent 2morrow I’ll maybe play one of the 1500 euros side events at the Irish open… fook actually paying for one of these events from your own pocket!

I have also run out of weed. This is very bad. I need an irish dealer FTW! :)

nothing exciting to post as my pots today weren’t immense, but all added up… so I’ll post this hand (yawn - I need to pokerhand more interesting hands but I am lazy)

galaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Posted under Uncategorized

went to gala casino dundee (slum) for a £30 freezeout (i figured i might as well play a live game in advance of next weeks biggie). Chipped up ez, was down to about 5bb then grinded back to about 25bb on the final table bubble. called a shove with QQ and she had KK - buston in 11th. boooo.

I was playing with Snooker Champ stephen hendry too - he won the mtt but did a deal.. obv the title of “winner” was > any money. I didn’t even recognise him in his baseball hat. I am a blindo obv. Keep thinking about laser eye surgery but fuck signing a disclaimer that says if they fuck your eyes up it’s too bad.

played some cash (pl dealers choice omaha 4/6, irish poker holdem and 7stud)- lost a £200 buyin, reloaded and grinded up to £650. long day for litte reward but was happy with my game so that’s cool.

poker is poo

Poker Today:

Another final table tonight (10k euros Gteed rebuy on Boss network)- that’s 3 big FT’s in 4 days. Of course I was chipleader when we went in, but I just couldn’t chip up and busted 9th. Things were getting crapshooty with everyone on 10bb or less or 35bb and I busted on a steal with the mighty King 2 offsuit. All my poker buddies are final tabling on boss the last day or 2 and getting pwned by total idiots. I swear there are complete morons walking around with their heads up their asses thinking that they own. oh and they have the cash too. It will trickle back into the system quickly though, just one of those things..

I looked an hour later at the final table and there were 4 players left all with stacks of about 10bb - what a shame poker has to end up in crapshoot mode when all the cash is at the top of the ladder. A deal option similar to Stars/Fulltilt would be very desirable on the boss poker network where I play, thats for sure.

i then proceeded to donk out of the deepstack even tho i was 4th with 24 left and 20 paid. tilt is a funny thing. I ran into an overpair for half my stack - then openshoved 66 into AA for the remainder of my stack. I wanted the call tbh, i just didn’t want him to flip over AA. gg me. I bought into a cash table before quitting and doubled my buyin. I have withdrawn my whole online roll except a few 100 which I will keep for some mtts 2morrow.. Rakeback due on the 15th and I am due a few grand from that, so it’s a nice time of the month to bank some winnings.

I am off to ireland on sunday for a 8 day break to see family and shit.. The irish poker open is on too, and i am playing that (4500 euros buyin). Looking forward to catching up with some buddies in Dublin, and maybe some ladies to keep a smile on my face.

more poker 2mor..

1 time jeezus - Sunday Pokah

Posted under Uncategorized

So I final tabled the €10k rebuy on boss tonight and played a decent game.

I did have some serious luck midway through the game (AJ sucks out on AK and AK, Tens hold V AK and AK for a 33k pot the very next hand :) and AA V QQ is always nice)..

I was totally carddead but very patient on the Final table, eventually when short I got it in bad with a7o v AK for 5th place (a dissapointing €800).

So 2 Biggish Final Tables in 2 days is good obv.. (and ~€1600 profit to boot), however I am disappointed that I didn’t close either of the 2 games (I think I played near perfect poker in yesterdays game and just got really unlucky). On the brighter side it’s good to be running good and playing well though I guess. I think grinding the hi-stakes SNGs on stars has altered my game somehow, in a good way.. so I ain’t complaining.

I will play a few more multis while I am working (got a biz meeting in the morning so I suspect another poker/ganja/coffee/work all-nighter). Also for added distraction I have been watching moorman in the 5k Winner takes all on stars - hopefully he takes it down or chops it for a fat score. I see Dan Carter is quite deepstacked in the warmup so will keep an eye on that too. I have got a wsop step5 on stars to do but I am in no hurry, and happy to grind up some more tickets from WSOP step 2.

more excitement as it happens.. Well it’s exciting to me! :)

edit:
So I played my WSOP step 5 game ($700 Buyin), and lasted an amazing 3 hands. Busto in WSOP Step 5. I don’t think i can pass here. If I flat the cash is all going in postflop anyway. I’ll be back on level 5 soon tho. No surrendering to stars’ RNG. rigged obv. gg stars.

oh and while i am editing, congrats to to moorman on shipping the $5k winner takes all on stars. he had a tough table (menlo , D_RY etc) and battled long and hard for a well deserved $55k win (after a deal) . gg. now sitting 9th/19 in the 100+r on stars. can he do the double I wonder?

Final table, and bust

Posted under Uncategorized

So I was Chipleader in the €15k €25rebuy on boss on Final table - then i managed to lose a quarter million pot [same size as my stack] with top pair and fdraw, then I got sucked out a few times and lost various +EV situations, busting out for 6th place by the worst donkeys ever. ARGH@#$#$@TWAG
1st paid €6k, 6th paid an embarrasing €900… booo. Also I hit the cash bubble in the 7500 rebuy with a decent stack, however I was distracted with my other game and shoved 89o from the SB int AQo and that was that…

Next up i played my wsop step 5 on PokerStars ($700 SNG). I managed to come 3rd (GRR) so I get to redo the step. last hand I ran into kings. oops! I am the king of sngs right now and it sure makes you a lot more comfortable moving the chips appropriately on Final Tables.

The struggle continues! WSOP OR BUSTO!

steps conquest day2

Posted under Uncategorized

well i must have played about 40 of these steps sngs in the last 24hrs and jigged up and down the steps system like a yo-yo..

Today I played a few DS’s to the mill (11$ for 215$) and won two of those in a row, then I started grinding the wsop steps (Level 6 is much juicier than step 6 of the EPT steps system which only pays 2 spots).

PokerStars Pro Vanessa Rousseau (LadyMaverick) was in my 25$ step yesterday - maybe she’s busto, but most likely she’s grinding up cos she has the skillz… I managed to ko her in the next step (obv brag).

I grinded up to level5 of the wsop steps today (a $700 SNG) and I’ll try to get a bunch more tickets lined up because knowing my luck I will get sucked out as is the norm when i hit new peaks… going to go rail some of the step5 and 6 games in the next few days as the same faces are playing em repeatedly (Stevie444 seems to be winning shitloads of packages- god knows he is in every level 6 and 5 of both step series)

Step6 here I come… I hope.
