Joystiq.com reports that Ontario’s provincial gambling operator has forced a recall of bunch (87!!!) of Konami’s slot machines due hidden subliminal messaging.

Winning Jackpot symbols were reportedly randomly flashed for durations upto 1/5th of a second WITH EVERY SPIN!, allegedly inducing players to throw away more of their hard earned cash with visions of jackpot symbols clouding their minds.

Konami are claiming that this is due to a “software glitch” Nice one Konami, we believe you.

GamePolitics.com has a Story about a Tennessee diner owner who thought she could dodge state gambling laws by concealing a Texas Hold `em poker game inside an old school arcade cabinet running “Centipede” on her premises.

The scam operated via a remote control, which allowed the operator to switch from centipede and Hold `Em. Local authorities rumbled the owner, and also seized four machines from the premises….

Ex-Eastenders actor Michael Greco has won leg three of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour, taking home more than £100,000 after winning a marathon eight-hour final table in Cardiff.

This was Greco’s first major win - in fact he beat a field of 314 other players. Greco is quoted as saying “This means so much to me and I’d like to thank Blue Square and Grosvenor for organizing such a well structured event,”

Sponsors of the Irish Poker Open, paddy power poker announced the television broadcast details of the 26th Irish Open.

Coverage of Europe’s largest (and longest running ) poker tournament will be televised by Ireland’s national broadcaster RTE over the Easter weekend.

Highlights of all the day’s action will be featured in a dedicated 90 minute programme each night on RTE Two on:

Saturday 7th April from 11.35pm
Sunday 8th April from 12.00am
Monday 9th April from 11.25pm

Commentary for the broadcasts of the Irish Poker Open will be provided handled by Jesse May along with a host of international poker stars.

The World Series of Poker announced this month that poker’s biggest tournament institution will creep into Europe in September 2007, with a number of events hosted across three separate London casinos in a poker schedule that will span eleven days.

The events which will constitute the World series of Poker in London will mark the first time that WSOP champions’ bracelets (possibly the most coveted baubles in the poker world) are awarded outside of Las Vegas.

September 10th is the kickoff of the inaugural WSOP Europe Main Event. The No-Limit Texas Hold’em tournernament features a £10,000 buy-in (That’s US$19,600!!!) , and will include the Sportsman and Filly casinos in addition to Leicester Square.

Play will continue at all three sites simultaneously until September 13th, when the remaining players will all return to Leicester Square, to continue late-table action, concluding on September 16th. This can only improve the popularity of Poker in the UK.
