Thought I’d post a poker video – here’s my 2nd place in the €25+rebuy on old faithful, Boss media – where I play on Pokerheaven as upaymyweed.
Comments/criticism always welcome. Yes I know. I am a fish.

Thought I’d blog up my poker progress recently since it’s been quite a long time since I’ve had time to blog. Overall I’ve had a good month so far on my latest BossMedia Account (old one was retired due to Celeb moving to iPoker).
I’m playing good and patiently for the most part in late-game, closing a lot (inspired by hearing shaun fking deeb’s sick stat of winning >60% of games he final tables.)
Obv I’ve been running okay too – and crushing the nits on tables of boss media. I’m game selecting the best MTTs (€25rebuy €40 deepstack and the €50k) or playing everything (costs ~€300 in buyins for an evening of grinding like 14 mtts- so you just need to final table/win one to breakeven for the evening – but just forget doing anything else if you’re doing this on a laptop with touchpad hehehe. I usually just play 3 or 4..)
Since putting in some solid grind this month, I now have a decent 41% ROI on Boss. Obligatory sharkscope screenshot (Obviously had to take screengrab before i get a grimstarr graph )
My next goal (I guess) is 70% ROI, then it’s time to find a site with bigger buyins, maybe a backer – and a solid rakeback deal.
I had some decent scores this month – a $15,000, a €2.5k, €1k and some other assorted little ones.

I also binked a $15,000 win 2nd in a $109+r on a site which shall remain nameless. wiii.
Transactions on boss last 14 days – more out than in = winning. Not spewing it all at 400nl = also winning.

Although I am doing well again, I’m not tempted to play full-time again. What an antisocial grind that would be. I love life /work / ballin’ too much to be locked in from of a pc from 9am ’till 2am every night!
I love boss media. It’s soft, the software is okay, fields are small, and I don’t pay tax on winnings.
The site has some pretty ridiculous game-killer bugs. I just re-discovered one that has been in their software for years:
Boss Media Rebuy Killer Bug:If you lose your stack during rebuy period in a MTT AND if the server decides to move you to a new table (table balancing) – the software moves you to another table before letting you rebuy – so it kicks you out.
I had to request a refund tonight because of this issue.
Please oh please – fix your servers Boss Media. Oh and while you are at it, can you fix the following too? :
Other Boss Media tournament bugs
- Allow instant rebuy in a rebuy tournament (HELLO??!!)
- Allow Double Rebuys
- Allow auto add-on (I mean players currently 5 seconds for an addon.. WTF. Make it last as long as the break period – 5 minutes.)
- Get your hand history viewer to work with CHROME (13% market share)- not just Firefox (which is losing market share). .
I’m sure I left out a load of bugs. I know the cashgame players would love an instant topup option too.
I started playing some cashgames on Meteor poker (a poker site on the Everleaf network). The software is pretty horrendous (notes features are bad, in-game hand-history is poor) – but the games are easy to beat, and different player types are easy to identify (with players tending to be one of three types: either regulars, rocks (tight, nitty players) or spewmonkeys (fish!) – all of which are easy to spot). the site has very little traffic/game selection. I soon realised why…
The network has a FUNDAMENTAL FLAW which is counter-productive and actually costing the skins and network money. The Problem? Player retention is nearly impossible – whether you are a pro or an amateur – you will probably want to leave the site. Yes.. Really…

According to PokerScout.com, everleaf is ranked #27 in terms of traffic, with an average of a measly 400 players online.
Why is there no game selection or meaningful traffic levels on Everleaf network? WELL… the Eveleaf network people seemingly ignorant of how the poker eco-system works, and oblivious of the fact that people do not want to knowingly play against good players / sharks/ pro’s – whatever you like to call them. To the recreational player, it very quickly seems like the tables are full of sharks, and that they try to avoid each other and concentrate on milking the fish dry…
So how do players know you’re a good player on Everleaf ? Well, sigh. players rate you (right click on avatar-> click rate player-> good/bad/excellent) and then EVERYONE can see your rating, and you cannot remove it!!!!
I found this out to my horror, because after 2 days of winning, I ended up with 5 stars (and a healthy bankroll), but I found it nearly impossible to get much action in heads-up cash-games from players with lesser ratings… Big sigh!
Multi-accounting (playing on multiple accounts on different skins/sites on the network) is not really an option either, as the network payment processor stores your card/bank details, in order to minimise skin-hopping I guess….
Way to ruin your own network everleaf. This feature is very silly and should at least have an OPT-OUT. So what do the fish (bad players) do? they leave – because they are surrounded by sharks and 5 star dudes.
Everleaf have a number of options:
My sources tell me that Everleaf has a tactical business reason for these ratings – so I doubt they will change the way things are for at least a little while….
What are your thoughts on this, as a player, affiliate or poker site/skin owner?
If you are a decent player, you will be happy to know that full ring, 4 max and 6max is awash with easy cash and tilty fish. just avoid the d00dz w/ the five stars unless you are competent, and enjoy the free cash IMO, and the 40% weekly rakeback.

so there’s no yanks on stars/ftp /ub since the FBI seized their US facing domain names, so i thought the $109rebuy on stars tonjight might be soft. turned out to be EXPENSIVE instead. FML
maybe stars have rigged the RNG to rape everyone a bit more during rebuy periods in order to get more rebuys to compensate for the missing americans
prolly not, but who knows !

I’ve not played live poker in ages and was tempted by badpab on facebook to get on the tube to the Vic (30 mins away from where I live in Wimbledon) to play the GUKPT 6max event (he tweeted that was on the train on the way there…). 7:30pm – 2 day event. 6max. easy game!
so anyway, I went to the london victoria casino, registered (£275) , grinded day 1 managing not to go broke with aces and running over some donks happy to stack off with top pair ace kicker for 200bb pots. Busted some local pro ken wong I think (thanks to the dealer and other players saying his name, I could quickly look him up with my Android phone (yes, fuck the iphone) on the hendon mob database. He opened 6x utg, i jammed QQ, he snap called and I held. wii.
So anyway I got moved tables and ended up with pab on my right (his kk into TT pre. gg ul, enjoy your Amstel) – and table was pretty bad so I chipped up nicely from my 24 remaining BBs to end the day with a 42bb stack.
day 2 later on I moved tables and suckout on TT with my 15bb stack – the guy slowrolled me, so karma prevails. steamrolled table except for young TT guy from the day before who is aggro beyond his years (the new wave of young player .. sigh).
Got my stack up to 115K, then got caught in an obv squeeze spot. Matey raises, young asian chap 3bets in an any 2 spot, so I stick them all in and guy behind me snaps with KK.
Squeezer had ajo and sucks out on us both (I had tens). [] Nice way to lose a pot for 220k when theres only 900k in play.
Left with 2bb and with 11/99 players left and only 8 paid, I obv shortstack ninja’d my q2o’s and shit up to 40bb. lost a flip, busted 8th ITM for £650ish.
1st was £8k. that’s all i can remember.
Tonight / this morning I won the $109 6max (1 rebuy 1 addon) on Full Tilt, and final tabled the $8k deepstack to lose with aces to quad 3′s or something ridic. Ran pretty hot in the $100cubed, so I don’t mind losing with the rockets too much.
the $100 cubed paid $9600 and 8th place or whatever in the other 1 paid like 450$ for a nice little $10k session. Thanks to my lucky railers Kennl and Amatay. <3.
PokerStars Tournament #325010706, No Limit Hold’em
Buy-In: $50.00/$5.00 USD
297 players

Dear alexrossUKGF,
You finished the tournament in 1st place. A USD 7,339.00 award has been credited to your Real Money account.
You earned 465.51 tournament leader points in this tournament. For information about our tournament leader board, see our web site at bla bla bla..
So I just won the $50 1r/1a (aka $50 cubed). Sick tables at the end with breethe (who i beat headsup) and mement-mori as well as rdcrsn. anyway i run good and played well (or maybe it was my Lucky lolipop avatar). yay
lol FTOPS.
I lasted a whole 9 mins in the 400k guaranteed 216$ 6max. http://www.pokerhand.org/?5617840. It’s better to get coolered early on rather thank on the bubble or later I guess. Obv i am putting villain on a really narrow range, like JJ,QQ,KK,AA the way the action went, maybe some nut flush draws with wheel combos, anyway when he rr’s me on flop I think its v unlikely he has top set. GG me.
Also my interesting fact of the week, facebook won’t allow me to post pokerhand urls, claiming it’s dubious content or some such. WTF Facebook – you guys should know about poker since Zynga poker is huuuuuuuuge.
maybe more ftopsing 2mor. gotta do some work too, so that should stop me spazzing out
So it’s my first day back playing on stars and FTP (aka the big money-pits), and obv i played the FTOPS 300k guaranteed $109+r and I got buh-donked on for a huge pot. http://www.pokerhand.org/?5606211 gg ftp
also I played 2 mtts on stars, losing with AA in both. http://www.pokerhand.org/?5605774
-~$500 in buyins. [] great.
This week Betfair has announced that they are moving from their own crappy software to onGame’s crappy software. OnGame has this week announced a new rake distribution scheme which will screw winning players in the ass and reward the fish who generate that ever important rake.
Seems like all of the small networks / independent sites are getting raped and that ftp/stars/party/og/cereus and ipoker are getting all of the significant traffic. PokerScout.com.
I’ve been way too busy with life to play poker for months (I even missed the Irish Open this week despite being over in Ireland, sigh.. ), but since I was updating my rakeback site and after posting the WSOP schedule I thought I’d check for the most +EV ways to qualify. I think I’ll try to win a main event package (but not via Steps on PokerStars – I came 3rd in my only step6 last year
).
You can qualify for 2010 WSOP on FullTilt for $1 (beat 11999 fish), there’s some 81 player $215 double shootouts for $12K packages (gotta be +EV if you satellite into em) and some other big field donkament sats. Also of interest are the stars 33rs and steps, and possibly the UB/AP steps, not investigated if they are doing them this year. Obviously UB are honest to the core and you should give them all of your money.
I’m looking forward to a challenge, and what could be more challenging than winning a package for the biggest and possibly softest MTT of the year and going on the one live deep run that matters.
Just busted my roll on boss media HU tbls. ended up really deepstacked, with 7bi on 1 table and 6 on another and lost set v set, and blah blah blah. Variance.
I blame the PokerStars skin I put on it.

I have never run so bad headsup in my life ever.
Needless I will be removing the PokerStars skin ! wish i had some weed to forget about it – but hey ho – maybe I’ll buy some cannabis seeds and grow a crop for all these bad beats i keep getting.
I am over in Ireland visiting family for a week or two as I have been getting into a bad routine over in London involving getting up, checking my search engine rankings (I own a bunch of websites, so this is part of the daily routine) and playing donkaments all day and boozing / playing pool / getting baked on weekends. The grinding MTTs was pretty soul destroying for a while as i ran superbad over a 2 month period (as I have whinged in previous posts) – so a holiday was definitely something I needed to regain my focus and my poker Mojo, if such a thing exists.
I started grinding headsup on one of my boss media accounts, starting small (100nl) and moving up to 200nl once I had 10-15 Buyins. I had some notable, long and very fun and swingy duels with a guy called r1ckj4ames (we’ve duelled a few nights and I’m up over a few k hands), and some other bums. This change back to heads-up was really what I needed to focus the mind and soul on poker, and I thank god for the deucescracked videos I used to watch, they are priceless for what they taught me about aggression, hand-reading etc.
some fun hands, because a blogpost sucks with no fun hands! (hands are in Euro (€))
http://www.pokerhand.org/?5142202 – Coolered for €1k, but that’s poker, don’t forget it!
http://www.pokerhand.org/?5166187 – Aggro Swede loses to my draw on a ridic board.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?5167260 – Who doesn’t want to play this guy. Really! I’ve been playing pretty aggro and 3betting a massive % of button opens, so I guess w/ metagame this is prolly an ez jam for him.. but this gives u an idea of the aggression and tone of the games v this dude. High variance but high profit for sure.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?5167259 – my new buddy r1ck is so friggin aggro and he will call with bottom pair if your line is baffling. Top pair is the nizzles to this guy, 9x would win the hand prolly but yay for AA.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?5180533 – I decided to play some 5/10euro 6max after a night in the pub. I say “ORLY?” after the hand and obv matey says “headsup anytime…” hehe. w/evarrrrr.. Ship me the €2k pot.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?5180620 – I timebank herocalled this 1.. his line didn’t make much sense.. at lower stakes it’s a snapcall, but when you’re playing above where you should bankroll wise, u gotta think about folding here. go me! ![]()
http://www.pokerhand.org/?5183208 – I know if i limp or minr, matey is insta reraising w/ ATC so I reraise and flop gin, good for a €2165 pot
in short, cash is king!
- Short sessions for the win.
- if you’re playing, don’t play tired, don’t drink, don’t smokoe doobies
- Bumhunting rules – avoid the regs on 10 tables.. play the hungarian tiltmonkey instead!
- A chatban costs you EV. If you’re chatbanned, you can’t tell the fish that you want to play him on 4 tables, or move up limits. This is very very important!
I got backed on merge by one of the new skins hoping to build up a good team of poker players. I played a few MTTs on there and I have a 255% ROI in the mtts (yeh obv over a tiny sample, but zomg they are sooooft.).. I have yet to win a HU session but I’ve only played 2.. players are either rocks or nits from what I have seen, and there’s not enough traffic to make it your #1 site for now.. but there’s a merger happening soon w/ playersonly and sportsbook.com coming to merge, so that will bring in liquidity and good potential equity, so more on that soon.
GL on the tables, oh and Screw MTTs (well, apart from the 50r on boss!)
loads of 10rs added to the daily schedule on boss media should effectively mean that grinding all day is a freeroll.. all u gotta do is dodge the RNG.
I’m back on boss (was 10-12 tabling today, weee), came 2nd in the 4k last night, won the 6max today and just busted 5th in 1 of the 3k’s, guy won’t fold aqo for 30bb pre, oh well.
could be worth grinding the boss media MTT tournament leaderboard, as there’s a chance to win a 10k wsop package, and the games are soft. IF u have the time it’s +EV for sure.
oh yeh, since i am talking about 10k packages, well done to the cortster (an ex boss media regular) for a deep run in the 2010 Aussie Millions main event. ($40k). Check out his poker blog.
