ftops coolers ZZzzzzzzz

Posted under Uncategorized

lol ftops
I lasted a whole 9 mins in the 400k guaranteed 216$ 6max. http://www.pokerhand.org/?5617840. It’s better to get coolered early on rather thank on the bubble or later I guess. Obv i am putting villain on a really narrow range, like JJ,QQ,KK,AA the way the action went, maybe some nut flush draws with wheel combos, anyway when he rr’s me on flop I think its v unlikely he has top set. GG me.

Also my interesting fact of the week, facebook won’t allow me to post pokerhand urls, claiming it’s dubious content or some such. WTF Facebook - you guys should know about poker since Zynga poker is huuuuuuuuge.

maybe more ftopsing 2mor. gotta do some work too, so that should stop me spazzing out :)

Guitar Hero World Record Video

Posted under Uncategorized

My Buddy Spammer Christopher Angus owns a SEO Company in the UK, and because he is a linkbait and general links whore and can’t do any dodgy spamming on his company web-site, his recent brainwave was to buy the rights to this cool video of a guy trying for the Guitar Hero world record.

The guy played for over 24 hours.. see the video here

Betfair moves to ongame

Posted under Uncategorized

This week Betfair has announced that they are moving from their own crappy software to onGame’s crappy software. OnGame has this week announced a new rake distribution scheme which will screw winning players in the ass and reward the fish who generate that ever important rake.

Seems like all of the small networks / independent sites are getting raped and that ftp/stars/party/og/cereus and ipoker are getting all of the significant traffic. PokerScout.com.

wsop2010 cheapo-style

Posted under Uncategorized

Not played poker in ages (even missed the Irish Open this week despite being over in Ireland, sigh.. ), but was updating my rakeback site and after posting the 2010 WSOP schedule and investigating some of the ways to qualify, I think I’ll try to win a main event package (but not via Steps on PokerStars - I came 3rd in my only step6 last year :( ).
Qualify for WSOP 2010
You can qualify for 2010 WSOP on FullTilt for $1 (beat 11999 fish), there’s some 81 player $215 double shootouts for $12K packages (gotta be +EV if you satellite into em) and some other big field donkament sats. Also of interest are the stars 33rs and steps, and possibly the UB/AP steps, not investigated if they are doing them this year. Obviously UB are honest to the core and you should give them all of your money.

I’m looking forward to a challenge, and what could be more challenging than winning a package for the biggest and possibly softest MTT of the year and going on the one live deep run that matters.

hard work pays off.. heads up for rolls?

Posted under Uncategorized

I am over in Ireland visiting family for a week or two as I have been getting into a bad routine over in London involving getting up, checking my search engine rankings (I own a bunch of websites, so this is part of the daily routine) and playing donkaments all day and boozing / playing pool / getting baked on weekends. The grinding MTTs was pretty soul destroying for a while as i ran superbad over a 2 month period (as I have whinged in previous posts) - so a holiday was definitely something I needed to regain my focus and my poker Mojo, if such a thing exists.

Back to basics.. back to heads-up for rolls!

I started grinding headsup on one of my boss media accounts, starting small (100nl) and moving up to 200nl once I had 10-15 Buyins. I had some notable, long and very fun and swingy duels with a guy called r1ckj4ames (we’ve duelled a few nights and I’m up over a few k hands), and some other bums. This change back to heads-up was really what I needed to focus the mind and soul on poker, and I thank god for the deucescracked videos I used to watch, they are priceless for what they taught me about aggression, hand-reading etc.

some fun hands, because a blogpost sucks with no fun hands! (hands are in Euro (€))

http://www.pokerhand.org/?5142202 - Coolered for €1k, but that’s poker, don’t forget it!
http://www.pokerhand.org/?5166187 - Aggro Swede loses to my draw on a ridic board.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?5167260 - Who doesn’t want to play this guy. Really! I’ve been playing pretty aggro and 3betting a massive % of button opens, so I guess w/ metagame this is prolly an ez jam for him.. but this gives u an idea of the aggression and tone of the games v this dude. High variance but high profit for sure.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?5167259 - my new buddy r1ck is so friggin aggro and he will call with bottom pair if your line is baffling. Top pair is the nizzles to this guy, 9x would win the hand prolly but yay for AA.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?5180533 - I decided to play some 5/10euro 6max after a night in the pub. I say “ORLY?” after the hand and obv matey says “headsup anytime…” hehe. w/evarrrrr.. Ship me the €2k pot.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?5180620 - I timebank herocalled this 1.. his line didn’t make much sense.. at lower stakes it’s a snapcall, but when you’re playing above where you should bankroll wise, u gotta think about folding here. go me! :)
http://www.pokerhand.org/?5183208 - I know if i limp or minr, matey is insta reraising w/ ATC so I reraise and flop gin, good for a €2165 pot

in short, cash is king!

Observations about playing HU/6max cash

- Short sessions for the win.
- if you’re playing, don’t play tired, don’t drink, don’t smokoe doobies
- Bumhunting rules - avoid the regs on 10 tables.. play the hungarian tiltmonkey instead!
- A chatban costs you EV. If you’re chatbanned, you can’t tell the fish that you want to play him on 4 tables, or move up limits. This is very very important!

I got Backed

I got backed on merge by one of the new skins hoping to build up a good team of poker players. I played a few MTTs on there and I have a 255% ROI in the mtts (yeh obv over a tiny sample, but zomg they are sooooft.).. I have yet to win a HU session but I’ve only played 2.. players are either rocks or nits from what I have seen, and there’s not enough traffic to make it your #1 site for now.. but there’s a merger happening soon w/ playersonly and sportsbook.com coming to merge, so that will bring in liquidity and good potential equity, so more on that soon.

GL on the tables, oh and Screw MTTs (well, apart from the 50r on boss!)

<3 bossmedia again

Posted under Uncategorized

loads of 10rs added to the daily schedule on boss media should effectively mean that grinding all day is a freeroll.. all u gotta do is dodge the RNG. :)

I’m back on boss (was 10-12 tabling today, weee), came 2nd in the 4k last night, won the 6max today and just busted 5th in 1 of the 3k’s, guy won’t fold aqo for 30bb pre, oh well.

could be worth grinding the boss media MTT tournament leaderboard, as there’s a chance to win a 10k wsop package, and the games are soft. IF u have the time it’s +EV for sure.

oh yeh, since i am talking about 10k packages, well done to the cortster (an ex boss media regular) for a deep run in the 2010 Aussie Millions main event. ($40k). Check out his poker blog.

Fold Kings and Aces Pre.. obv. [fk poker post]

Posted under Uncategorized

fuck poker
fuck MTTS, fuck poker.. fuck losing when you’re 90%+ to win a hand and it costs u $10k in $ev….

I can’t win, period:

Pocket Kings:
http://www.pokerhand.org/?5108161
http://www.pokerhand.org/?5108026

Pocket Aces
http://www.pokerhand.org/?5096927 for $126,115 and a certain 9k Euros cash
http://www.pokerhand.org/?5069992 for $462,488 Pot

http://www.pokerhand.org/?5107586 Even spastics [who][are][20k][down] calling 40bb shoves in deepstack w/ 20 left tilting my life away.

I’m sick of getting 5%ered for 10k wins every other day. I’m dusting off my CV and I’m gonna get a job as poker is just too easy to play, and I always get assraped when it matters.

We had some good times pokerblog. maybe someone will post here offering to stake me (haha right!), but I’m pretty tempted to ban myself from stars/ftp etc but I guess I’ll sleep on it. ZZZzzzzzzzzz

Words of Wisdom From My Mother [how to crush MTTs on small networks]

Posted under Uncategorized

It’s funny how many random expressions you hear can relate to poker. I was visiting my family in Ireland for a week, and was chatting to my mother briefly about some final tables I had made in the last 2 days (2nd place and like 6th) on bossmedia (where I used to make a decent living back in 2008 grinding Midstakes Mtts). I told her that I have given up on the big moneypit sites (Stars and FTP), with massive fields and the huge variance that they bring. and that I’m going back to basics to grind up a 30-50k roll on small euro sites ASAP.. Yes, I’m back on Boss-Media.
good stuff she said,

It’s better to be a big fish in a little pond than a little fish in a big pond

That’s true I said, but then I actually tried in my mind to quantify how right she was, and in which respects.. here’s my shortlist:

Why play poker on a small eurodonk network:

- Given the smaller fields, the variance is hell-a-smaller. Winner. No more waiting a week for a final table in something.. constant performance feedback via more cashes keeps you motivated, and slowly but surely booking ok wins which can add up to 10-15k a month if you run good, and maybe 5-8k if u just play good.
- u get to know the regulars and build up a great set of notes due to constant observation … Very +EV
- small networks have smallish buy-in donkaments = weak players. do the math.
- game selection: u gotta know what’s worth playing. On Boss it’s the 40ds, 20ds, early 10r and the 3r. Anything else is crapshooty and really not worth bothering with imo. (The 100k was sick structure for a week or 2 but now it’s meh, but I guess they added some extra levels which is nice)
- strategically impaired players adding dead money: The smallest rebuys are even worth playing, as most players don’t understand that they should double rebuy and gamble to get a stack. they are too tight and inevitably even a half decent player has a massive edge meaning an easy 500-900 euro from a 3euro rebuy.. easy to run deep/final table these and omg raping the bubble is like taking candy from a dead baby.
- Rakeback, nearly forgot. 30% rakeback on pokerheaven (boss media) is the nizzles. I play on pokerheaven now since Celeb Moved to iPoker (bye bye to my golden nhggfu screenname sigh), so for now I am playing on PH. Rb = at least 1-2k a month just from MTTs.

In summary, Game selection, constant drool-worthy and mental state propping performance feedback, and reads / notes on everyone, makes being a big fish in a small pond profitable FTW. I’ll add graphs later as I want this post to encourage me not to go spazzing my roll or playing 25/50.

So it’s december - cu in Jan

Posted under Uncategorized

Not updated this in ages, but generally I am thinking screw poker right now.. running real bad and I am consistently losing 80/20’s, 70/30s when it matters over what feels like a big sample. I can win mtts, just not on my own accounts.. hmmm.

typical stuff I am whining about:
For top 5 w/ 33 left in the 100k on boss only 22k for 1st, obv I can’t hold when I am a sick favorite.
MiniFtops 6max. w/ these stacks and w/ 46k for 1st, this is just sick.
another Miniftops donkament yawn.

always the same shit, minicashes or ridic suckouts. I’ve whiffed some 32k and 30k scores on ftp/stars and just can’t seem to final table anything on there.. plenty of final 30s, last 50’s in the brawl etc, but never winning the final flips while deep.. So I’m moving down to low stakes mtts on European sites for a bit till I build my roll..

Queue up the self-bans from the two highest variance MTT money pits. I know over xmas I will get boozed up and try to play the 109s etc on ftp/stars, so this is a good idea:

:) I'll be back in Jan ftw.. 50euro mtts or less (and the boss 100k w/ sicko structure obv) until then..

Tiny Brag / EDIT: Obviously since I decided to grind smaller stuff, I created a PKR account with rakeback since my pokerbuddy benjones keeps telling me how soft it is. I played 2 mtts (5$ and 25$ 6max) to try the site out, and while the software is tilting, the players are ABC/Nits/Terribad, so I came 2nd in the 25$ 6max for 546$ (I lose 88 < ajo all in pre for a gazillion chips vs a regular heads-up) , so a good start to the grind on the eurodonk sites. Here’s my stats page on PKR.. I’ll try to get it up to 15-20k by end of Feb hopefully.
